The Hayfield football team scored its first touchdown of the season, but it still struggled to move the ball and its defense didn’t get the job done in a 48-6 loss at Lake City (1-1 overall, 1-1 HVL) Friday.

Broderick Diekman broke free for a 48-yard touchdown run to make it a 28-6 game, but the Vikings (0-2 overall, 0-2 HVL) couldn’t do much else as they had three turnovers.

“We really struggled on offense and couldn’t stop the run all night,” Hayfield head coach Grant Klennert said. “That led to a lot of problems and they pretty much ran wild.”
