Jazz band to play Austin Tuesday

The Austin Artist Series is about to kick off the season with a bang … or a wail as it were.

The first concert in the AAS’s 68th season is the New Reformation Jazz Band this Tuesday.

“Everywhere they play, they get rave reviews,” said Phil Burkhart, AAS president.

The New Reformation Jazz Band is famous for playing multiple styles of jazz, from swing to blues to Dixieland, ragtime and a little big band, along with some New Age songs. The group is more than 35 years old and has produced 15 critical albums.

New Reformation plays at the Knowlton Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27.
