Although Austin City Administrator Jim Hurm was one of four final candidates for Elk River City Administrator, the Elk River City Council offered the job to another candidate.

The Elk River Star News reports the job was offered to Kevin Lahner, who has been a city administrator in Burlington, Wis. since 2008.

Hurm previously said he hoped the interview would be a good experience. He also said he had no intention of leaving Austin but likes to keep his options open.

“I think this was a good experience to go through,” Hurm said Friday. “You learn a lot.”

Hurm was one of 71 applicants for the position.
