Dustin Heckman, Executive Director, Mower County Historical Society
On behalf of the Mower County Historical Society, thank you to everyone that volunteered and attended the Fall Harvest Celebration on September 24. The event was more successful than it ever has been. It was great to have the community support our organization by attending the event and allow us to share Mower County’s history. All of the volunteers that helped during the Celebration also deserve a much appreciated thank you. From the bakers for the bake sale, those who shared fresh produce with us, and those who worked at the various stations, we could not have pulled off this event without you. A special thank you goes to Tim Carroll, Larry Aanonson, Betty O’Brien, Pam Marsolek, the Sons of Norway, the Arnold Brandt Post of the DAV, Dan Franklin and the Blacksmith Shop guys, Darin Nelson, Dwight and Vickie Smith, Glenn and Judy Medgaarden, Jeff Witt, Bill Lewis, Vern Hoffman, Laverne Hoffman, and Don Konken for all your hard work in making our living history demonstrations happen and opening up some of our buildings to the public. I apologize if I omitted anyone as so many people helped that day.
The event would not have happened without the tireless efforts of the Special Events Committee which put the event and talented people together. Thank you so much for all the hard work and effort. History came alive at the Fall Harvest Celebration. I hope the citizens of Mower County will continue to support its history and take an active role in preserving it. Again, thank you to everyone who supported the event.
