The Restaurant Warehouse is temporarily relocating to Oak Park Mall after a fire damaged its building at 608 10th St. NE in early August.

According to Bob Nelson, owner of The Restaurant Warehouse, the new location at the mall is scheduled to open Thursday, Sept. 15. He said the business will be there until at least January 2012.

“We have not yet decided to rebuild or remodel at our 10th St. location,” Nelson said in a news release. “We would like to thank the Austin Fire Department and the firemen who responded for a job well done.”

Nelson goes on to explain that the steel roofing structure above where the fire originated received “serious damage.”

According to Fire Chief Mickey Healey, the fire was caused by an electrical issue. In August, Healey said the fire was started by “deficiencies in the wiring along with demand of electrical appliances that overloaded an electrical outlet, which then ignited the structure.”

Nelson said the fire began in the employee break room near a refrigerator.

The Restaurant Warehouse’s new location is next to Sears, Nelson said.
