A 41-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were arrested early Sunday morning after reportedly attempting to break into someone’s house and subsequently threatening to kill them.
Austin police Capt. Dave McKichan said the alleged perpetrators were throwing rocks at a residence in the 300 block of First St. SE. The house occupants called police when the man and woman tried to kick in the door of the house.
When police arrived, the man and woman could be heard yelling at the people in the house. McKichan said they were yelling that they were going to harm and kill them.
Officers took the two suspects into custody, and the 41-year-old man allegedly threatened to harm the officer’s family. He also spit at the officer and tried to kick out the window bars in the squad car, McKichan said.
Eventually, police sprayed the man with mace and put a hood on him to prevent him from spitting more.
The duo is expected to be charged in Mower County District Court this week.
