The Blooming Prairie volleyball team was on the verge of victory when it lost control of the match in a five-game loss to New Richland/H/E/G (3-0 overall) in BP Thursday.
BP (1-2 overall, 0-1 Gopher) fell by scores of 25-23, 18-25, 23-25, 25-15, 15-10 as NRHEG’s Anna Schlaak took over the match.
“Anna Schlaak had been relatively quiet for most of the match, but in game four she started swinging,” BP head coach Gina McLaughlin said. “We battled back and forth in the fifth game through nine points, but when Anna rotated back to the front row, she killed it. We knew the ball was going to her and she really played well.”
BP missed four serves in game one, which it lost by two points.
Janelle Morem had 11 kills and 17 digs for BP, Madison Worke had 28 assists and Taylor Hagen had nine blocks.
“We really fought as hard as we could,” McLaughlin said. “I proud of the way we played tonight. The girls were scrappy defensively and that takes desire and effort. It was an exciting game.”
