The Riverland men’s soccer team won its sixth straight match to open the season when it beat University of Wisconsin-Richland 4-0 on the road Friday.
Diego Luz netted two goals in the win as RCC (6-0 overall) played without one of its top scorers in Rafael Bellon, who sat out with an injury. Forward Sacm Scheffler also left the match with an injury.
RCC still racked up 28 shots on goal and had 13 corner kicks, compared to Richland’s one corner kick.
Corey Anderson and Rolando Rubio added goals for RCC, which also emptied its bench in the win.
“We put our bench players to give a rest to the starting players who have been working very hard past three games,” RCC head coach Soner Dogan said. “Our bench players played as good as our starting players. This is what I like about this year’s team everyone is as good as the other. Nobody is above the team.”
Rubio made two saves in relief of starting keeper Estaban Sebastian late in the match.
