ANOKA — Anoka High School will induct 24 alumnus into its first Hall of Fame class Thursday, but it won’t include one of its most famous alums: Republican presidential contender Michele Bachmann.

Mike Clark, who’s on the organizing committee, says 45 nominations were submitted but the 1974 graduate was not among them. He says people probably thought she was an automatic nomination.

Gretchen Carlson, the 1989 Miss America who now co-anchors TV’s “Fox and Friends,” is an inductee. She tells the Star Tribune she is disheartened Bachmann, who was her baby sitter, wasn’t nominated but she knows it was a genuine grass roots.

Bachmann congratulated the Hall of Famers, but said nothing about her omission.

Garrison Keillor declined the honor, saying he’s just a writer not a “Hall of Fame-type guy.”
