Three men are in custody after allegedly assaulting a 30-year-old man at City Limits Apartments early Sunday morning.

Officers came to City Limits Apartments at about 2:53 a.m. Sunday on a report of a fight, according to Sheriff Terese Amazi.

According to police reports, a 30-year-old man who lives at City Limits heard knocking at his door and opened it to find three of his neighbors. The neighbors allegedly started punching him and shouting at him in a language he didn’t understand. The three were visibly intoxicated, Amazi said.

Officers arrested two of the men, ages 26 and 24, at the scene. A third man, 23, fled the scene out of the east entrance. Officers chased him north through a ditch, across a road and into a cornfield, repeatedly asking him to stop running. Police finally subdued the man with a taser and arrested him.

Two of the men arrested had warrants from Dakota, Ramsey and Steele Counties. All three assailants are on probation, Amazi said.

The case is being forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s office.
