A trio of freshman had a big impact as the Blooming Prairie volleyball team opened its season with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 win at Medford (0-2 overall) Tuesday.
Middle hitter Taylor Hagen had 13 kills, six blocks and four ace serves, setter Madison Worke had 27 set assists and libero Nicole Inwards had 19 digs in the win.
Hagen aced the match point in the deciding game and she also put up some solid hitting.
“Game two really showcased Taylor Hagen in the middle,” BP head coach Gina McLaughlin said. “Madison and Taylor were able to connect on several hits in a row in Taylor’s three rotations at the net. That paired with some strong serving from Shelbi Swenson really gave the girls confidence.”
BP (1-0 overall, 1-0 Gopher) started by trailing the first game 8-3, but Swenson served five straight points to tie it up and the Blossoms eventually took a 17-12 lead.
