Fitness, massage therapy businesses open in GM

Two new businesses are opening in the Grand Meadow Business Center in August.

Raptor Fitness will focus on fitness classes such as Zumba dancing and offer a day-fee, or one-month, three-month, six-month and one-year membership options. Meadowlark Massage and Bodywork will offer a number of massage options to assure the appropriate therapeutic treatment.

The force behind Raptor Fitness is the combined energy of Chad Doocy and Cheryl Middendorf, who both recently graduated with a degree in exercise science from Bemidji State University. Raptor’s goal is to ease its clientele into healthier lifestyles by offering beginner classes during the first several weeks. Along with the duo’s experience working with senior mobility, they also look forward to helping people see how much they can do with exercise. Doocy grew up in the area and the couple looks forward to reconnecting with area friends and family and meeting new people.

Local massage therapist Krista Johnson is excited to launch Meadowlark Massage. She will offer several types and levels of massage from relaxing massage services such as deep tissue and hot stone massages to special services such as crainosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage, geriatric and prenatal massage. The goal for the business is to treat each person based on individual needs and provide guidance on what they can do to help themselves and their muscle groups between appointments.

To celebrate their opening, both businesses hosted a grand opening event Aug. 3, 4 and 5. Watch for additional information on an open house in September for both businesses and a community meeting on the benefits of massage on Aug. 27.
