Two Austin boys told police they were approached by a man with a gun early Wednesday morning around 12:30 a.m.
The boys, ages 12 and 14, were on the bike path behind the Austin Public Library when the man reportedly asked them, “You don’t want to get shot do you?” The man lifted his shirt, showing a black-handled “pistol,” the boys told officers.
He also asked the boys if they had a cigarette, according to a police report.
The boys told police the man was either Hispanic or African-American, between the ages of 20 and 25, 5 feet 10 inches tall and thin. He was reportedly wearing a white tank top and baggy jeans.
Officers searched for the man and found nobody fitting the description. The report was forwarded to Austin police detectives for follow-up.
Curfew is 10:30 p.m. for children under age 15.
