A 30-year-old Dodge Center man charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Lyle girl pleaded not guilty to two criminal charges Thursday in Mower County District Court.
The girl’s father locked the alleged perpetrator, Isaac Joseph Jones, in a camper around 7 a.m. the morning of Aug. 15 after discovering Jones and the girl had been in the camper together. According to a court complaint, Jones remained locked in the camper until around 10:30 a.m., when police were called to the scene.
Jones pleaded not guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. A jury trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 7 with Judge Fred Wellmann presiding.
The girl told police she met up with Jones at the Lyle City Park at 4 a.m. on Aug. 15. The two then went to the camper, where Jones and the girl began kissing. She told police Jones touched her sexually, but they did not engage in sexual intercourse, according to the complaint
However, the girl reportedly told officers Jones asked her via text message if he could have sex with her.
When police questioned Jones Monday morning, he said he came to “hang out” with his “friend,” whom he acknowledged was 14- or 15-years-old, a court complaint states.
According to the court complaint, the girl said Jones has given her “hickies” on previous occasions, including one on her stomach the morning they were in the camper. Police photographed the bruise as evidence.
