Two Austin women were arrested Friday night after allegedly breaking into a pregnant woman’s house.
Nyakier Thiach, 18, and Nyamuoch Chuony, 19, will likely be charged in Mower County District Court early this week.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said police received a report of a burglary in the 900 block of 7th Ave. NE around 9:45 p.m. Friday night. Witnesses said the victim, who is reportedly eight months pregnant, was screaming for help.
The victim told officers the women, later identified as Thiach and Chuony, knocked on her door and entered uninvited, claiming a third party owed them money.
The woman told police she doesn’t know the person Thiach and Chuony were asking about.
When police arrived, Thiach appeared as though she was keeping lookout for Chuony, a police report said.
The police report said a plastic container with coins in it was found nearby, dropped next to a tree.
According to Krueger, the women could face first-degree burglary charges.
