A 17-year-old boy has been cited for failing to use due care after his vehicle rolled, injuring an 18-year-old passenger.
Collin James Lewis, 18, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin around 10 p.m. Sunday night. He was later taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester for a “closed head injury,” according to Sheriff Terese Amazi.
He and the 17-year-old driver, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, were driving down a gravel road when the accident happened. The driver said a deer ran into the road, causing him to swerve and roll the vehicle. He told police he was probably driving too fast.
Alcohol was not a factor, according to Amazi.
