As school for Sumner Elementary students is slated to start August 1st, Sumner’s Equity Team, the Austin Human Rights Commission and Sumner parent and staff volunteers will be celebrating this new modified school calendar with a Sumner Neighborhood Festival on Thursday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Sumner Elementary.

All Sumner families and neighbors in the northwest part of Austin are invited to attend. This event takes place during the scheduled open house for students at Sumner, where students come to take school pictures, bring in school supplies, meet their teachers and see their classrooms.

Sumner’s Equity team (part of the integration program which Kristi Beckman leads) is planning this event and it is being sponsored by the Human Rights Commission of Austin.
