The National Weather Service out of La Crosse, Wis., has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for five counties, including Mower County, until 3 p.m. today.

Other counties under the watch are Dodge, Fillmore, Houston and Olmsted.

A thunderstorm developed at 1:05 p.m. between Eyota and St. Charles. The storm is producing rainfall rates up to one inch per hour. If these rates persist, flooding is possible, according to the NWS.
