The Minnesota Twins pulled out a 1-0 win over the LA Dodgers on June 29 at the Target Center. Another bonus was a local Austin Veteran who was chosen to raise the American flag during opening ceremonies before the game.
Dan Stewart, a Marine veteran, was injured in 2004 in Fallujah by a roadside bomb that threw him into a Humvee and caved in the right side of his skull.
He spent almost four years in the hospital working on rehab. He was so proud to be chosen for the honor of raising the flag for our country. It was our proud moment to witness and share.
Upcoming travel
July 14: Our annual Mystery trip will depart at 1:30 p.m. Our second Clue: “A pleasant summer ride. Collections not few. We’re not playing around. It’s a first time revue.” Guests on our motor coach will make their guesses before we leave Austin. A couple of late cancellations are available by calling our travel number: 507-438-3946.
July 27: Chanhassen dinner theater production of “Jesus Christ Super Star.” The powerful and passionate story of the last days of Christ’s life. A masterpiece production by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Motor coach will depart at 9 a.m.
Aug. 16: Minnesota Arborteum near Chaska with a Tram ride and narration and lunch included. Time is allowed for a walk through the live floral gardens and settings. A special stop following will peak your interest also.

Sept. 6-17: Fall tour west: Balance is due by July 25. There are openings still available. We also have a complete schedule available at the center and in the south door entrance box. The fall tour will be heading to Montana, Washington, California’s Red Woods, and much more.
Sept. 18: Late afternoon dinner show of “Hairspray.” This production is filled with sparkling tunes, side-splitting humor, high energy dances and an inspiring story. “Hairspray” is a must see show.
Oct. 8: Fall Leafing Cruise in La Crosse Wisconsin.
Oct. 19: “Church Basement Ladies” in Plymouth, Minn. This is the fourth production of these hilarious church ladies and their pastor. “A Mighty Fortress is our Basement” is their latest, and they are telling us it may be the last of this series. It’s hard to believe they can keep coming up with situations comparable to most churches in Minnesota. Yes, they still mention the “funeral Jell-O” served.
Nov. 9: “Everybody Loves Opal.” The Old Logs’ newest show is located near Excelsior, and they have cast two of our favorite actors: Tom and Steve. The Old Log makes for comfort with choosing your own seating, hearing devices and also selecting from a great noon entree choice. We enjoy this yearly trip.
Our Office hours remain Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to noon. Using the south entrance. If we’re on a trip, the office can assist you or please use our travel phone number. Fees for a tour may be sent to our mailing address: 1002 16th St. SW Austin, MM. 55912
