Two weeks ago, Grand Meadow resident Bryan Peck reached the pinnacle of his golfing career.

A week later, he found out he’ll have to wait at least a summer to get a chance to cash in on that performance.

Peck, who graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 2005, qualified for the Minnesota State Amateur golf tournament when he shot a 76 at Wedgewood Cove Golf Course recently.

However, Peck broke his wrist while falling off a golf court this past Friday and now he’ll miss out on the meet — which has 156 qualifying golfers.

“It’s going to be real hard to sit out, but there’s not much I can do about it now,” Peck said.

While he won’t be able to compete at the state meet, Peck was still glad he qualified for the tournament. It was his third attempt to qualify as he lost in a playoff two years ago.

“I could’ve played a little better, but it was my biggest accomplishment as a golfer,” Peck said.

Now Peck will focus on getting back on the greens — he can play again in six weeks — and practicing for next season.

Peck played golf at Upper Iowa University in college and he is the current Cedar River Club Champion.

He has golfed at Cedar River for the past 10 years.
