Once again, the Fourth of July Freedom Fest celebration has shown that the people of Austin take a lot of pride in their city. It seems that the parade and festivities at the bandshell — including the fireworks — get better every year. I have heard many comments by Austinites and visitors to Austin that we have the most enjoyable Fourth of July celebration that they have attended.

We all owe Sandy Forstner and the staff at the Chamber of Commerce, along with the many volunteers, a big pat on the back. They seem to out-do themselves every year. I have watched as Sandy and staff prepared for Freedom Fest the last five years. People would be surprised if they knew how much work and preparation goes into the festivities.

Well done, Sandy, staff and volunteers. You made it possible for us all to really enjoy our nation’s birthday!
