Camp to teach mix of sports, religion

If you want your children to learn about God and football at the same time, then Will Pazurek has the camp for you.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will put on a Game Changer Sports Clinic at Ellis Middle School next Tuesday, July 19.
The camp, run by Pazurek and John Conway of Waseca, will concentrate on Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Football and Volleyball for students entering grades fourth through sixth.
Though this is the first time the local FCA put this event on, Pazurek hopes the event will become annual.
“The main reason was for kids to connect to high schoolers and learn about faith,” Pazurek said. “The whole day will be faith-oriented.”
The day promises fun for its participants, with sports clinics, lunch (which participants must bring) a parents program and a family dinner as well. The event is non-denominational, with nine high school and middle school coaches helping alongside high school and college athletes serving as camp counselors.
While the event is only one day, it could be longer next year if many people attend this year’s event.
“We’re giving it a shot this year,” Pazurek said.
The event starts at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 19. There is a registration fee of $25 before July 14 or $35 after July 14 pending openings. Residents can register at www.minnesotafca.org/austin-jsc.
