A group of eight Lyle area residents had their trip to the fireworks cut short Sunday night when the all-terrain vehicle in which they were riding rolled into a pond.
The accident took place around 10 p.m. Sunday night near the intersection of 560th Ave. and 105th St. in Lyle.
Carey Andrew Martin, 25, was airlifted to St. Marys Hospital by Mayo One, and Ariel Danielle Bruggeman, 21, was taken to St. Marys Hospital after being seen at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. Bruggeman is eight months pregnant, according to Sheriff Terese Amazi. Their conditions and injuries are unknown.
Trent Eric Murphy, 39, was driving the 2006 Polaris Ranger. He was arrested on suspicion of DWI. Amazi said charges will be determined once the blood tests are complete.
Other occupants of the vehicle suffered minor scratches.
