A Brownsdale woman is out nearly $5,000 after several pieces of gold and silver jewelry were allegedly stolen from her home.

Chief Deputy Mark May said Trisha Burrell, 40, arrived home from work Thursday evening to find that someone had been in her house in the 200 block of Market St. SE. She had locked the door when she left in the morning, and it was unlocked when she returned. There was no evidence of forced entry.

Burrell reported 16 necklaces, six rings and eight bracelets missing. Among the rings missing were two pieces worth $2,000 each. One is a gold wedding ring; the other is an antique, silver ring with diamonds embedded in it.

The estimated value on the items missing is $4,972, May said.

There are no suspects at this time, but the Mower County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
