Heat lose Toops; top Plainview 12-2

The Hayfield Heat lost one of their starters for the season, but still prevailed in a 12-2 win at Plainview Wednesday night.

Heat second baseman and leadoff hitter Casey Toops ruptured his achilles tendon rounding third base in the fourth inning and he is done for the summer.

Hayfield (4-0 overall) finished with 18 hits and they still haven’t committed any errors this season.

Shawn Palmer was a double short of a cycle for the Heat he finished four-for-six.
