The Hayfield Heat broke a two-way tie at the top of the Twin Rivers League when they beat Pine Island 8-2 on fan appreciation day in Hayfield Sunday.

The Heat (6-4 overall, 6-2 TRL) had eight players come up with at least one hit in the win and Kasey Krekling scattered nine hits while striking out nine in eight innings of work on the mound.

Hayfield scored four runs in the third to take over early.
