The Austin girls track and field team advanced just one runner at the Section 1AA preliminaries at Lakeville South Thursday.
Eighth grader Carolyn Hackel reached the finals in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She tied for third in the 200 with a time of 27.24 seconds and she was fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.53.
Though they didn’t reach the top-eight to qualify, Austin had solid performances from 300-meter hurdlers sophomore Karyn Potach — who had a career best time of 51.28 seconds into the wind — and seventh grader Rachel Quandt — who finished near her season’s best time at 51.68 seconds.
Austin sophomore pole vaulter Abby Snater will get her crack at getting to state when she competes on Saturday.
