Police and Austin Fire Department were called to a home at the 1200 block of Fourth Avenue SW at about 7:50 p.m. Monday. Officers could see black smoke and fire coming out of an unattached garage on the property, according to police reports.

While the fire was put out, officers spoke with Crystal Dampha, 29, who rented the home. Dampha told officers there was no one inside the home when the fire broke out, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.

The fire caused damage to the south side of the home and to two sheds on the property. The garage’s damage is unknown and the fire remains under investigation, Krueger said.
