A 23-year-old Austin man was arrested Monday night for allegedly punching a woman in the leg until she could barely move.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said Shaninth Michael Ray was arrested around 6:45 p.m. He has not been formally charged but could face felony domestic assault charges.
The woman told police she and Ray had been arguing throughout the day. At one point Ray started punching her in the leg, according to Krueger. The woman said Ray punched her so many times she had difficulty moving from the leg pain.
When police arrived, the woman said there have several past incidents in which Ray has assaulted her, but she did not report them because she was fearful.
The woman was walking with a noticeable limp, according to a police report.
Ray will likely be charged in Mower County District Court by the end of the week.
