45-year-old gets prison for violating probation

A 45-year-old Austin man was sentenced to more than one year in prison for violating his probation for a drug crime.

Bryan Douglas Battin was sentenced to 15 months in prison Friday in Mower County court.

Battin was convicted in March 2010 of fifth-degree drug sales and was sentenced to five years probation. He has since violated his probation on two occasions, according to court documents.

His most recent violation was in April 2011, when police found found two straws and four “corner baggies” that tested positive for methamphetamine under Battin’s bed, according to a court complaint.

Battin also admitted to having alcohol and marijuana in his system when police arrested him April 6.
