A Twin Cities thank you is coming to the Paramount Theatre.
The Current Road Trip concert series will stop in Austin, and Twin Cities rock group Tapes ‘n Tapes will headline the show.
“This is a way that we can give thanks to them for being such a great support,” said MPR’s Tara Schlosser.
This will be The Current’s third road trip to small towns around Minnesota, the previous three: Jeremy Messersmith in Duluth, Roma di Luna in Mankato and Dessa in Rochester. The series is a thank you by Minnesota Public Radio to loyal listeners around the state.
“The Current road trip began because The Current wanted to be able to reach out to listeners outside of the twin cities and give them an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Current staff and one of our favorite artists,” said host Jade Tittle in an email.
The Minnesota Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund has made the concert series possible, according to Tittle.
Paramount General Manager Scott Anderson said it’s cool to have the great radio station come down to little Austin as a destination.
“I’m really excited about it,” Anderson said.
“They’re way good,” he added. “It’ll be really fun.”
The road trip is the kick off to a jam-packed summer at the Paramount Theatre featuring polka, rock ‘n’ roll, a salute to the 1960s and more.
“We’ve got some great rock ‘n’ roll coming,” Anderson said.
The Austin concert will be filmed and posted on www.thecurrent.org.
There will be a question and answer portion of the show and an opportunity to meet Mary Lucia and the band afterward.
