Blooming Prairie eighth grader John Rumpza picked up a nine-inning win on the mound and had the go-ahead RBI as the Awesome Blossoms beat Medford 7-6 in 10 innings on the road Tuesday.
BP (2-7 overall) had runners on second and third with no outs in the top of the 10th inning, but they botched a suicide squeeze and Luc Zellmer struck out before Rumpza singled in a run.
In the bottom of the 10th, Isaiah Toquam didn’t allow a base runner as he got the save.
“It was a great performance by Isaiah because he’s been struggling with his control lately,” BP head coach Chris Staloch said.
BP led 6-5 after Luke Hueman knocked in a run in the ninth, but Medford tied it up in the bottom of the frame.
