The Austin girls track and field team took second at a home triangular meet at Larry Gilbertson Track and Field Tuesday.
“Despite cool temperatures, we had a lot of personal bests,” Austin head coach Nancy Jones said. “I was very happy with how the athletes competed today and we’re seeing a lot of great things from our younger athletes.”
Austin sophomore Abby Snater broke her own school record, which she set as a freshman, in the pole vault as she took first with a height of 10 feet, six inches.
Austin eighth grader Carolyn Hackel had a big day as she won the 100-meter and the 200-meter dashes, while taking first in the long jump and seventh grader Madison Overby won the 800-meter run.
The Packers had 44 points and Owatonna won the meet with 109. Rochester John Marshall had 33 points.
