The Austin baseball team closed out its regular season by dropping two games to Rochester Mayo (11-8 overall) by scores of 15-0 in six innings and 9-1 at Dick Seltz Field Thursday.
The first game was scoreless going into the fifth inning, when the Spartans put up three runs and Mayo scored 12 in the sixth to put it away.
“It was a close game and then we had kind of a meltdown inning,” Austin head coach Troy Watkins said. “We’ve had too many of those this year.”
The Packers (3-17 overall, 2-16 Big Nine) allowed four runs in the top of the first of the nightcap.
Austin will play at No. 1 Rochester Century in a Section 1AAA playoff game Saturday at 1 p.m.
