The Lyle/Pacelli baseball team couldn’t overcome its eight errors as it lost at Mabel/Canton 8-7 Monday.

The Athletics had runners on second and third with one out in the top of the seventh, but Skylar Meyer struck out, Drew Chapek drew a walk, and Jordan Hart grounded out to end the game.

L/P (5-9 overall, 4-5 SEC) scored three runs in the seventh as Teddy Emmery had a pinch-hit, two-run double and Matt Kasel reached on an error as another run scored.

Kevin Juenger took the loss for L/P, despite allowing just one earned run.

“Kevin really did a nice job on the mound tonight, we just couldn’t back him up,” L/P head coach Dan Zielke said. “He probably threw an extra 30 pitches tonight just because of errors. He gave us a chance to win and that’s all we’re looking for.”
