CRWD to discuss returned district rules

The Cedar River Watershed District will get the first look at its state-reviewed draft rules Wednesday night.
The rules, which have been in the making for more than a year and a half, have been in the hands of Minnesota’s Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) for the past two months.
BWSR reviews all local watershed rules and recommends adjustments if needed. The rules include guidelines for building within the floodplain, waterway and ditch projects, snow dumping and several other areas concerning water quality and flooding.
During the monthly meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Jay C. Hormel Nature Center, CRWD will likely set a date for a public hearing on the draft rules. Once it completes the hearing and makes final adjustments, the rules will go into effect.
Other items on the agenda include a date for a rain barrel distribution and discussion about a rain garden at the senior center.
