The Blooming Prairie baseball team has struggled at the plate for most of the season, but that all changed when the Awesome Blossoms racked up 12 hits in a 6-5 win over New Richland/H/E/G (5-8 overall) in BP Thursday.
BP’s Isaiah Toquam singled in a run with one out tie to the game in the bottom of the seventh and Ryan McCabe came through with a walk-off RBI single to end the game.
Cooper Nelson gave BP (3-9 overall) some early offense as he drilled his first homerun of the year with a two-run shot in the first inning.
“Tonight was fun,” BP head coach Chris Staloch said. “Hopefully we can get a little momentum and get going now. I thought we faced a pretty decent pitcher and we swung the bats well.”
BP eighth grader John Rumpza picked up his third win of the season on the mound.
BP pitching: John Rumpza (W), 7 IP, 8 H, 1 BB, 5 ER, 4 K
