STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say three people were rescued after a boat began to sink on a Washington County lake early Sunday.

The Washington County sheriff’s office reports a woman called 911 shortly after midnight and said she could hear people yelling for help on Big Marine Lake, between Forest Lake and the Wisconsin border.

The Star Tribune reports that a member of the Scandia rescue unit who lives on the lake responded in a personal boat and found three adults who swam to the west side of the bay.

The rescuer took them to a boat landing, where authorities were waiting. Deputies arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of boating while intoxicated. No one was hurt.

County deputies have found the partially submerged boat, but don’t yet know why it sunk.
