The Austin boys golf team finished near the bottom of the field with a team score of 337 at the 11-team Mayo Invite at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester Wednesday.

The Packers had some frustrating holes as they had 24 double bogeys or higher on the day.

“If we can cut that number in half then that gives us a chance to be competitive in a meet of this size,” Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski said. “We didn’t have a good showing today.”

Sophomore Alex Thorson led Austin with a score of 79.

“Alex just had one bad hole and he played the other 17 very well,” Gogolewski said.
