Packer tennis team beats Decorah

The Austin boys tennis team played in just its third match of the spring on Friday and it looked just fine as the Packers topped Decorah, Iowa 6-1 at Paulson tennis courts.

Austin swept all of the singles matches in two sets.

The Packers now have a busy schedule on the horizon as they look to make up several postponed matches.

“The rain has really given us some issues,” Austin head coach Tom Tauchnitz said. “At least we got a match in today.”

(A) Josh Detwiler won 6-1, 6-1

(A) Andrew Heickley won 6-1, 6-0

(A) Bob Sherman won 6-0, 6-0

(A) John Fleiner won 6-1, 6-0

DOUBLES

(A) Joe Urlick/Ben Sherman lost 6-3, 6-2

(A) Pat Wagner/Tony Lipari won 6-2, 6-1

(A) Max Coffey/Andrew Striker won 6-3, 6-2
