Funeral services for Lillian Arlena Stephens were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Church of Christ, 323 N Madison, Pierre, S.D. Interment will be in Onida, S.D., at the City Cemetery, followed by lunch at the Phoenix Center, Onida.
Lillian Arlena Stephens was born March 24, 1921, in Rotan, Texas, to William Earnest and Eula (Baltzell) Blount. She graduated from Rotan High School on Dec. 20, 1938. Lillian married Charles Edward Stephens in Rotan, Texas. They lived and farmed in Goodlett, Texas, until April 1, 1949, when they moved to South Dakota and settled in in Sully County, where they farmed.
Lillian continued to live on the farm after Charlie’s death until July of 2002. She moved to Lubbock, Texas, where she resided at Bender Terrace until her death.
Lillian passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the age of 90.
Survivors include son, Charles, and wife, Sandy, of Albert Lea; son, Jerry “Weldon” of Onida, S.D.; son, Denny, of Onida; daughter Cheryl and husband Lee Savell of Lubbock Texas; daughter, Dena, and husband, John, of Pittsburgh, Penn.; sister, Lorene Barbee, of Highmore, S.D.; along with 28 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and great-great-grand children.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; daughter, Judy Lee, in June of 1998; both of her parents; a brother; and two sisters.
