Kiefer leads Rebels to a win

Things didn’t start well for Southland pitcher Adam Kiefer in his first start of the year, but they ended great as the Rebels won 8-1 at Lewiston/Altura (0-1 overall, 0-1 Three Rivers) Thursday.
Kiefer allowed a double to the first hitter he faced and his team was down 1-0 after one inning. But Kiefer, who struck out eight in seven innings, never allowed another run and the Rebels (2-0 overall, 2-0 Three Rivers) scored five runs in the fifth to go up 7-1.
“Adam settled down pretty good and he got stronger as the game went on,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “We didn’t plan on leaving him in so long, but his pitch count was low and he was doing well.”
