The Blooming Prairie softball team beat Mankato Loyola for the first time in at least eight years when Jenna Krell scored on a Loyola throwing error to give the Awesome Blossoms a 5-4 win in eight innings in BP Monday.

BP loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth and Erica Manske had a short fly out for the first out. Tayla Jones flied out to left field and Krell was a little late to take off from third but she ended up scoring on an overthrow to give her team the win.

BP (3-0 overall) trailed 4-1 until Jones and Hunter Henderson came up with back-to-back run-scoring singles to help tie the game up in the bottom of the third.

From that point on, both pitchers took over.

“We started off slow with some mental mistakes but after we tied it up, Erica took over and our defense made some plays behind her,” BP head coach Ali Mach said.
