The Riverland baseball team came to play as it swept Western Wisconsin Technical College by scores of 11-0 and 12-2 in six innings each in La Crosse, Wis. Tuesday.
The Blue Devils (16-9 overall) ripped off 25 hits in the doubleheader and Braden Hunkins, a freshman designated hitter from Almond, Wis., led the way by going six-for-seven with a homer and 3 RBIs.
“We played our best ball of the year today,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “Playing those really good teams in Florida has helped us and now we’re seeing some slower pitchers. Some of our guys are starting to swing the bat well.”
Brad Winkelman pitched a six-inning shutout in the first game while walking one and Jamie Adams walked just three in a while allowing one earned run in the second game.
“Our pitchers are pounding the strike zone and Brad’s fast ball is really coming along,” Koenigs said.
