A 29-year-old Austin woman was given a citation for fifth-degree assault after allegedly punching another woman in the face outside of Cosmo’s Bar.

Mary Jo Maxine Moreno was also taken to the Mower County jail to sober up after the incident. Police Chief Brian Krueger said Moreno was at Cosmo’s Bar early Sunday morning around 1:50 a.m. when she apparently started cursing at another woman in Spanish.

A bouncer tried to intervene, but Moreno managed to punch the 24-year-old woman in the face, leaving a fresh cut above the woman’s eye.

Moreno was released from the jail after a few hours, Krueger said.
