A 39-year-old man was arrested around 1 a.m. Friday morning for allegedly trying to break into a woman’s house via the second-floor balcony.
The man, whose hometown is unknown, was also wanted on a Steele County warrant for driving after cancellation.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said police responded to the 200 block of 9th St. SW on a report of a potential burglary in progress. When they arrived, they found the man allegedly trying to get into the residence through the door on the balcony. He had used a ladder to reach the second story.
The man told police he was the homeowner’s boyfriend, but the homeowner said the two only previously had a relationship, and she had since changed all the locks in the house.
He is being held in the Mower County jail pending charges.
