Police are looking for the person who allegedly shot two Austin residents in the back with a pellet gun Easter morning.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said the two reports came within three minutes of each other, around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The first report was of an 18-year-old walking in the 700 block of 13th Avenue NW, when he felt something hit him in the middle of his back.
The man said he heard an “air noise” before the pellet hit, but when he turned around, he didn’t see anyone. When he got home, he had a large welt in the center of his back. He went to Austin Medical Center for treatment.
Three minutes later, police received a call from a 66-year-old man who said he was hit in the center of the back with something in the 1400 block of Sixth Street NW. The man was wearing a vest and a windbreaker at the time and only had a small red spot on his back from the impact.
Police were unable to find any pellets where the two men were shot. Officers also went door-to-door in the neighborhood and didn’t find anyone with a pellet gun or any witnesses.
Krueger said the reports have been turned over to detectives for further investigation.
