Carrol Henderson, supervisor of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Nongame Wildlife Program since 1977, will present “Birds in Flight” at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center’s Ruby Rupner Auditorium on Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to attend this free program, which is co-sponsored by Austin Audubon & the Friends of the Nature Center.
Henderson minored in physics at Iowa State University and served in the Air Force as a communications maintenance officer, so he had the opportunity to fly in a wide variety of airplanes and helicopters during his military service. He combined his fascination with flight with his knowledge of birds to write the book “Birds in Flight: The Art and Science of How Birds Fly.” His presentation will cover basics of flight and show examples of birds in flight from around the world: Hummingbirds, condors, falcons, hawks, eagles, and albatrosses.
