MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Police at the University of Minnesota are handing out doughnuts — and safety tips — as part of a campaign encouraging students to “Stand Up” when a situation doesn’t seem right.
In the last few weeks, the Stand Up campaign focused on preventing high risk drinking. This week, the focus shifts to campus and personal safety.
Students will see messages about safety on posters, in residence halls and through social and traditional media.
In addition, police are handing out doughnuts so they can get to know students and talk about how police and students can work together to keep the campus safe. Tuesday’s event is at 7:30 a.m. in front of Coffman Union.
