It wasn’t the whopper people were talking about, but it was enough to make for a slow commute.

The system affected a good portion of the county. It stretched from Duluth to the Louisiana coast and caused flooding and tornadoes near New Orleans.

Up to 2 inches of snow is expected today, likely tapering off late this afternoon. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.

Winds of around 15 mph may cause some slight drifting in open areas, especially overnight.

After temperatures hit the 50s in mid-February, winter has re-staked its claim — first with a cold spell and now with more snow.

The NWS is watching another system of rain and snow for late Friday into Saturday, though it’s too early to predict precipitation totals.

Even light snow could affect driving conditions because winds could reach 40 mph on Saturday.

However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. High temperatures are expected to top 40 for much of next week.
